With reference to General Black's despatch

No.141 of 13th. May, 1898, I have the honour to inform you that Mr.G. Tuohy has signified his intention of relinquishing his appointment under this Government on the expiration of the term of his agreement on the 4th. of September next, and to request that you will be good enough to select a Candidate to fill the post of Ward- master in the Medical Department of this Colony on Mr. Tuohy's resignation.

The Acting Principal Civil Medical Officer would prefer that, a Candidate be obtained if possibl from the Naval Medical Service rather than from the Army Medical Corps.
